A generic “send us your drawing” page can create enquiries, but it gives search engines and buyers very little information about the work the company actually wants and is equipped to win.

Short answer

Make the preferred work visible: machining processes, materials, component types, tolerance context, batch or production fit, industries and quality environment. Build pages around those capabilities, then route RFQs with enough drawing and requirement context for fast technical review.

Better RFQs start with better self-selection

A CNC supplier may receive enquiries for jobs that are too small, too large, outside its material capability or commercially unsuitable. When the website says only “all types of machining work undertaken,” buyers cannot self-select.

Describe the types of work the company genuinely wants: relevant processes, materials, component scale, production environment and sectors.

Capability pages should answer engineering questions

Explain turning, milling, multi-axis machining, grinding, inspection or secondary operations where they matter. Add material families, quality systems and practical production context. Exact tolerances or dimensions should only be stated where the company can defend them consistently.

The content should help a sourcing engineer decide whether to send a drawing, not attempt to replace the engineering review.

Make drawing submission secure and simple

For many precision parts, the real RFQ cannot progress without a drawing or specification. Provide a clear route to share it and explain how the enquiry will be handled. If confidentiality is important, offer an NDA or secure handoff as part of the sales process.

Do not force a buyer to search for a personal email address after finding the exact capability page.

Target industries where the capability has context

A machining supplier serving automotive, pumps, industrial equipment or instrumentation can create sector-specific evidence without creating duplicate pages for every customer. Show how the process is relevant to the application and link back to the core capability.

This improves both search relevance and buyer confidence.
